EDUCATION

The department of Education is charged with over seeing the implementation of the district and national education policies and plans. It also monitors and evaluate performance of the education system and school operation to keep required standards within the district. The areas of focus includes; teachers, Pupils, school facilities and Parent.
The department also seeks to strengthen the institutional frame work for the management of schools and assurance of accountability of public resources in educational program. The district council equally joins the Government to promote education for all its citizens in partnership with parents and all members of the community.
As such, the government Education policy is to promote quality basic education by improving access by girls and boys, equity and retention in all primary schools and other levels of learning.
The district has a total of 73 Primary schools, of which 44 are Government aided, 25 community and 5 private.
The district has a total of 8 secondary schools which are Government aided schools.

Today the District Executive set out to monitor school projects with funding from the Ministry of Education under the School Facility Grants(SFGs) in Lalar,Alero,St Peter's Alero,Coorom(5 stances drainable latrine)and Olwiyo Primary schools among other school completed projects in Anaka Central,Bidati (4 stances drainable latrine)and Ongai Primarys schools due to be commissioned next weeks.
